Hours after Luis Garcia Plaza was fired, the Spanish first division team Alaves announced the hiring of Argentine Eduardo Coudet as their new coach on Monday.
The 50-year-old Coudet, who has managed Celta Vigo in La Liga before, will lead Alaves through the end of the current campaign, with a one-year extension option.
Alaves finished 10th last season, and Garcia Plaza guided the team back into the top division in 2023.
Alaves was only one point above the relegation zone, though, after a record of one victory in nine games this season.
