Nissan announces 9,000 job cuts, slashes sales forecast

Japanese automaker Nissan said it was “facing a severe situation” and lowered its 2017 sales projection on Thursday, announcing 9,000 job losses.

“Nissan will reduce its global workforce by 9,000 and cut global production capacity by 20 percent,” the company stated, lowering its initial prediction of 14 trillion yen ($80 billion) in net sales to 12.7 trillion.
