Maldives to start regularization process for undocumented Bangladeshi expatriates soon

The Maldivian envoy in Dhaka announced today that the Maldives will shortly begin the regularization process for the unauthorized Bangladeshi expats residing there.

Shiuneen Rasheed, the high commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh, said as much while she paid Md. Touhid Hossain, the adviser on foreign affairs, a courtesy call at the foreign ministry.

The envoy expressed appreciation for the migrant workers from Bangladesh who have contributed to the socio-economic development of the Maldives during the meeting.

The High Commissioner reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to maintaining engagements, cooperation, and collaboration with Bangladesh, citing the two countries’ good bilateral relations.

The Adviser for Foreign Affairs received congratulations from the High Commissioner on taking on his new duties.

The foreign adviser expressed gratitude to the Maldives administration for giving Bangladeshi workers in the archipelago job possibilities.

The necessity to continue working together on topics like climate change and to fortify regional cooperation was emphasized by both the High Commissioner and the Foreign Affairs Adviser.
