The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has expressed its optimism about controlling mosquito-borne disease Dengue by conducting regular and special programmes.
“We are hopeful to check Dengue under the DSCC areas in a successful manner by conducting regular and special programmes,” DSCC Administrator Dr Moh Sher Ali told newsmen after overseeing in person the field level drives to control Dengue at its Convention Centre, Shitalakhya Hall here.
He said that in order to control dengue, they routinely kill both flying and living mosquitoes and carry out larviciding and anti-larviciding to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae.
According to the list of dengue patients created by the Directorate of Health, the DSCC has also been conducting anti-mosquito drives in the regions under its jurisdiction where dengue cases have been reported, he added.
According to him, the DSCC adopted the programs at the request of the Cooperatives Advisor and LGRD.
mentioning that this year’s climate was favorable for preventing dengue because it was over 35 degrees Celsius for a brief period of time and mosquitoes could not withstand the heat.
“We’re hopeful that there will be no problem with Dengue this year. We will act promptly if any problem arises to this end,” he said.
