At the 2024 Locarno Film Festival, superstar Shah Rukh Khan will receive the Pardo alla Carriera, the lifetime achievement award. The festival’s organizers released this news on Tuesday. The honour will be given in recognition of SRK’s outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
Giona A. Nazzaro, artistic director, expressed her gratitude for the honor in a statement: “Welcoming a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan to Locarno is a dream come true! His contribution to Indian cinema is unparalleled in both its wealth and scope. Khan is a monarch who has remained in constant communication with the people who elected him.”
“This brave and daring artist has always been willing to challenge himself while remaining true to what his fans all over the world eagerly expect from his films. A true ‘people’s hero’, sophisticated and down to earth, Shah Rukh Khan is a legend of our times,” he added.
On August 10, Shah Rukh will accept the honor in Piazza Grande, an outdoor venue. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, one of his most famous films, will also be shown during the festival. On August 11, Shah Rukh will have a chat at the Forum @Spazio Cinema.
Tsai Ming-liang, Francesco Rosi, Claudia Cardinale, Johnnie To, Harry Belafonte, Mario Adorf, Jane Birkin, and Costa-Gavras are among the past recipients of Locarno’s Honorary Leopard.
The honor follows SRK’s incredibly successful 2023, which included the release of his three massively popular films, Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki.
According to reports, the actor will start filming “King,” his upcoming movie. A recent video of Shah Rukh Khan went viral on social media, and viewers with keen eyes saw the script for the movie sitting on the table next to him. Actress Suhana, who is the daughter of Shah Rukh, is reportedly also attached to star in the movie.
The footage was actually a snippet of Shah Rukh wishing cinematographer Santosh Sivan a successful Cannes Film Festival, following his receipt of the esteemed Pierre Angenieux Excel Lens Award.
A portion of the Internet noticed the script for “King” on the table next him in the previously stated video. Additionally, there were some extra features on the cover that weren’t very evident in the video. If rumours are to be accepted, Sujoy Ghosh will be in charge of “King.”
