The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued a major danger alert number 10 today for the maritime ports of Payra and Mongla, and a number nine for the ports of Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram.
“The cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ is likely to move in a northerly direction and may cross Sagar island of WestBengal-Khepupara coast near Mongla by evening or midnight today”, according to a latest cyclone warning bulletin issued by the met office this morning.

Over Bangladesh’s coastal districts, rain and gusty winds have begun as a result of the severe cyclone’s outer effects.
Within 64 km of the severe cyclonic core, the maximum sustained wind speed is approximately 90 kph, with gusts or squalls reaching 120 kph. Around the severe cyclone center, the sea level will stay high.
