Moscow slams planned Ukraine peace conference as US project

The US Democratic Party’s pointless attempt to host a peace conference in Ukraine before this year’s US presidential election was criticized by Russia’s foreign ministry on Wednesday.

High-level talks are scheduled for June 15–16 in Switzerland, and according to Swiss media, US President Joe Biden is anticipated to be present.

“American Democrats, who need photos and videos of events that supposedly indicate their project ‘Ukraine’ is still afloat, are behind this,” the state-run TASS news agency quoted foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying.

She accused Washington of being primarily motivated by its election process.

“The elections are everything. Ukraine is nothing,” she said.

According to the Swiss government, President Viola Amherd will hold the June 15–16 peace summit at the opulent Burgenstock resort, which is located close to Luzern.

Regarding the problem of what to do with Russian assets in the financial nation, as well as the conflict in Ukraine, Russia has accused Switzerland of betraying its long-standing neutrality.

Moscow called the Swiss ambassador last month to discuss efforts to clear the path for the seizure of Russian assets there.

Moscow has promised to continue its attack in Ukraine, which has lasted for more than two years.
