Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated countrywide amid festivity

One of the most important religious holidays for Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr, was observed nationwide today with the appropriate enthusiasm, joy, and celebration.

The very auspicious event culminated this morning with millions of people from all walks of life offering the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at mosques, Eidgahs, and impromptu prayer locations in the nation’s capital and throughout the entire country. It started with the sighting of the Shawwal moon at 1445 Hijri last evening.

The Muslims also prayed for divine blessings to help promote national unity against all odds and destructive acts during munajats, which were held following Eid assemblies (jamaats).

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world on occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

The National Eidgah on the grounds of the Bangladesh High Court hosted the nation’s principal Eid jamaat (congregation) in the nation’s capital at 8.30 a.m.

At the National Eidgah, President Mohammed Shahabuddin led hundreds of people from all walks of life in Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

At the major Eid congregation, there were prayers from the chief justice, cabinet members, Supreme Court justices, members of parliament, leading political figures, diplomats, and high ranking civil and military personnel.

The Eid prayers were led by Hafez Mawlana Mufti Ruhul Amin, the Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Besides, five Eid congregations were held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7:00am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am and 10:45am.
