Negotiation with pirates to start soon for rescuing cargo ship MV Abdullah: KSRM

The owners of the commandeered cargo ship MV Abdullah, flying the Bangladeshi flag, KSRM officials, are getting ready to begin negotiations with Somali pirates who made initial contact with them on March 12 after seizing possession of the vessel with 23 crew members on board.

“We will start talking with the pirates at our convenience, as they contacted us through a third party this afternoon for the first time,” said Mizanul Islam, media advisor of KSRM Group that owns the ship MV Abdullah.

Speaking with BSS, he stated that negotiations to save the crew and the ship can begin whenever it is opportune now that communication has been established.

“We are hopeful regarding solving the crisis through discussion,” he added.

Armed Somali pirates took control of the ship on March 12 while it was transporting 58,000 tonnes of coal from Maputo, Mozambique, to Al Hamriyah, United Arab Emirates.
