Russia and Ukraine say civilians killed in overnight attacks

Both Russia and Ukraine fired a barrage of artillery and drone strikes at one other on Friday, claiming that people had been killed by midnight aerial operations.

According to Kyiv, one woman was killed in a shelling attack on the frontline Zaporizhzhia region, while two individuals were murdered by a Russian drone strike in the Vinnytsia region of central Ukraine.

Three children were murdered in Kyiv’s army’s overnight bombardment of the Russian-held city of Donetsk, according to officials stationed in Moscow, while one member of the region’s territorial defense unit was killed in shelling of the bordering Belgorod region.

Ukraine’s national police said in a statement on Telegram that “Russian troops attacked the Vinnytsia region with drones, there are dead and wounded”.

“As a result of the enemy attack, a 52-year-old man was killed and his 53-year-old wife died in hospital,” it said.

The distance between the front lines and the Vinnytsia region is almost 400 km (250 miles).

According to Ukrainian Governor Ivan Fedorov, a 76-year-old woman was murdered when shards of a Russian shell struck her while she was in her garden in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, which Moscow claims to have partially controlled and annexed.
