Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas passes away

Pankaj Udhas, 72, a globally recognized Ghazal maestro and recipient of the Padamshri award, departed from this life on Monday.

The statement Nayaab, the daughter of Pankaj Udhas, posted on Instagram said, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.”

The renowned vocalist died following a protracted illness. As soon as Nayaab announced the singer’s passing, a plethora of condolences were left by his followers in the comment area.

A fan wrote, “May his soul rest in peace.” “I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, stay strong and please accept my condolences,” another user wrote. “Deepest Condolences and Prayers,” another user posted.

The timeless ghazals “Chitthi Aayi Hai,” “Chandani Raat Mein,” “Na Kajre Ki Dhaar,” “Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein,” “Ek Taraf Uska Ghar,” and “Thodi Thodi Piya Karo” were among many to which Pankaj Udhas contributed his vocals.
