PM seeks more Chinese cooperation to smoothen Bangladesh’s development journey

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina referred to China as one of her nation’s main strategic and development partners today and asked for further Chinese assistance to speed up Bangladesh’s development process.

“China can cooperate further than the past to smoothen our development journey,” she said as Chinese Communist Party’s Vice-Minister of the International Department of the central committee Sun Haiyan called on her at her official Ganabhaban residence here.

PM’s Speechwriter M Nazrul Islam briefed the newsmen after the meeting.

Sheikh Hasina was congratulated by Sun Haiyan, the president of her country, Xi Jinping, on her reelection as Bangladesh’s prime minister during the courtesy meeting.

She stated that because of her efforts to improve the lot of the people of Bangladesh and her love and affection for her fellow citizens, Xi Jinping was certain that she would be reelected as prime minister.

“Xi was confident on Sheikh Hasina’s reelection as Prime Minister as she was committed to changing the fate of the people and her patriotism towards the country and its people,” Sun Haiyan said.

On behalf of the Chinese government and the Communist Party of China (CPC), the vice minister of China also congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her reelection as prime minister.

Additionally, Sun Haiyan congratulated Saima Wazed, the sole daughter of Bangladesh’s premier, on her appointment as the World Health Organization’s (WHO) regional director.
