On January 10, on the auspicious occasion of the Father of the Nation’s Homecoming Day, Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, the former Cabinet Secretary, formally joined the Awami League with the affection of Sheikh Hasina, the party president and daughter of the Father of the Nation.
Kabir bin Anwar has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hague Mission, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environment, and Senior Assistant Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office in his 35-year career. Then she served as senior secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources. In his working life, he retired from the highest post in the Civil Service as Cabinet Secretary
After passing SSC and HSC from Dhaka Residential Model Collage, he completed a Masters and an LLB from the Political Science Department of Dhaka University. During his student life, he served as the president of the BHA at Fazlul Haque Hall of Dhaka University. Appeared in the 7th BCS examination and joined the BCS Civil Service Administration as a magistrate in 1988.
Throughout his career, he received the Public Administration Medal three times and Bangabandhu Digital Bangladesh Medal twice. In addition, he received the Bangladesh Scouts’ highest award, the Silver Tiger. In recognition of his efforts to promote peace, he received the Atish Dipankar Peace Gold Award.
Serving as the Director of the A2I Project for eight years, he made a substantial contribution to the development of digital Bangladesh. He was given the WISIS Award by the International ITU four times on behalf of the nation as a result.
In addition to working for the government, he belongs to a number of volunteer associations. He is currently the Chairman of the Isabella Foundation, the President of the Bangladesh Cycling Federation, and the National Commissioner of the Scouts of Bangladesh. He has ten books published. In addition, he serves as the publisher and editor of Sahas, a national daily and online magazine.
Anwar Hossain Ratu, the father of Kabir bin Anwar, served as the Bangladesh Awami League’s Sirajganj subdivision and district general secretary for 22 years while also being a valiant independence fighter. Mother Syeda Isabela was a courageous educator, writer, and liberation warrior. She was awarded the Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2021 by the Government of Bangladesh for his significant contribution to the language movement.
Kabir Bin Anwar oversaw the Bangladesh Awami League’s 12th national election’s electoral campaign planning and coordination for the previous year after retiring from the civil service.
