Western missions show a firm commitment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Diplomatic missions of 13 Western countries and the European Commission in Dhaka showed their firm commitment to Universal Declaration of Human Rights (HR) marking International Human Rights Day being observed today.

“Our commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is unwavering,” the missions said by issuing a joint statement marking the day.

The envoys and high commissioners of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union signed the statement on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The united statement reaffirmed the support and solidarity of the western nations with individuals striving to protect and promote equality for all, fundamental freedoms, and human rights.
The missions made clear how essential democracy is to defending human rights and advancing progress.
