145 Bangladeshi citizens return home from Libya

Today, 145 citizens of Bangladesh who had been detained in Tripoli, the capital of Libya, were returned to their home country.

According to a press announcement, the Bangladeshi nationals were on a Buraq Air chartered flight that touched down at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IMO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs greeted the returning Bangladeshi people when they arrived at the airport.

Aside from some food supplies, the IOM offered each of them Tk 6,500 in pocket money.

On November 28, a chartered jet was used to bring 143 irregular Bangladeshi nationals who were being held at the Ainjera Detention Center in Tripoli back to their home country as part of the repatriation procedure.

On November 30, 110 more individuals were flown home on a chartered flight.

In the last three chartered aircraft, 398 individuals of Bangladesh were repatriated to their homeland.
