Russian-Chinese annual trade reaches $200 bln

Igor Morgulov, the Russian ambassador to China, stated that trade between China and Russia had nearly hit $200 billion.

“According to the results of ten months of this year, bilateral trade has reached $196.5 billion. I think that the goal of $200 billion set by our countries’ leaders is already achieved,” he said at the 14th plenary meeting of the Russian-Chinese Committee on Friendship, Peace and Development.

Morgulov claims that the $200 billion target was first intended to be reached in 2024.

He stated that the two nations are still working on major energy-related projects and that they are also still pursuing high-tech, innovative, and cooperative investment initiatives.

The presidents of the two nations established the interstate non-governmental organization known as the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace, and Development in 1997. On November 30, it will convene its 14th plenary session in Beijing.
