3 Bangladeshi workers die as building collapses in Malaysia

Tuesday night in Malaysia, a building that was still under construction collapsed, killing three workers from Bangladesh and injuring two more.

According to a press release received here from the Bangladesh mission in Malaysia, the victims were identified as Mohammad Mokaddesh Ali (Passport no. EJ0915363), son of Md Afsar Ali from Haripur village under Shibganj upazila of Bogura district; Mohammad Saiful Islam (Passport no. EH0730224), son of Md Rawshan Ali from Laxmipur village under Debidwar upazila of Cumilla district, and Md Ahad Ali (Passport no. A01964104), son of Mohammad Osman Mondol from Chhaipai village under Chatmohor upazila of Pabna district.

Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lampur expressed deep grief and sorrow at the demise of three expatriate Bangladeshi nationals, said release. 

Getting the tragic news, acting Bangladesh high commissioner to Malaysia Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastaghir sent two Bangladesh mission officials, including first secretary (labour) ASM Zahidur Rahman, to the spot immediately. 

Currently, the bodies of the victims are kept at Penang Hospital. The Bangladesh High Commission has already taken steps to realize compensation as well as sent the bodies to Bangladesh. 

The injured workers were also sent to Penang Hospital for treatment, said the release. 

As per the information of the authorities concerned, the incident occurred at 9:45 pm (local time) on Tuesday in Penang.
