Awami League to start selling nomination forms Saturday

For the January 7 parliamentary elections, the ruling Awami League (AL) will begin selling nomination papers to prospective candidates on Saturday.

According to an AL news release, party candidates can pick up and turn in their nomination papers between November 18 and November 21 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day.

The application forms for party nomination should be obtained by interested party men from the designated booths set up at the AL Bangabandhu Avenue central office in the capital.

Nomination forms for the candidates of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions will be distributed from the second floor of the party office, while the aspirants from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions have to collect nomination papers from third floor of the office.

Nomination papers of all divisions will be received on the ground floor of the central office.

The AL nomination aspirants can collect and submit their application forms themselves or through a representative of the candidate without any extra gathering at the party office.

At the time of collection of the application form, a candidate must bring a photocopy of National Identity Card (NID). Mobile number, three posts held by the aspirant and current organisational identity must be clearly mentioned on the photocopy.

According to the statement, nomination forms must be turned in by November 21 at 4 p.m.

AL President Sheikh Hasina will launch the nomination form sale process tomorrow following a meeting of the AL’s National Election Steering Committee, which was established in anticipation of the 12th national elections, according to a press conference held today at the AL office in Tejgaon, the district office in Dhaka. AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader made this announcement.

He stated that the district Awami League office in Dhaka will virtually connect the AL president to the central office.

He stated that nomination forms will be on sale on Saturday.
