Travel, tourism, hospitality awards launched

A new award program for the travel, tourist, and hospitality industries has been launched by travel magazine The Bangladesh Monitor to honor individuals and groups for their significant contributions to the growth of these industries in Bangladesh.

The winners’ names will be revealed at a lavish event in May of the following year, subject to a number of requirements, including public input.

According to a press release issued here, they were disclosed today at a press conference held at the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Speakers at the conference included Abu Tahir Muhammadd Zaber, CEO of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, Professor Shibli Rubayet Ul Islam of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, and Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of the Bangladesh Monitor.

The four main categories for which the awards will be granted are restaurants, travel, tourism, and hospitality.

The winners will be chosen by a jury group made up of people from the media, civic society, and related professions.

The jury panel’s verdict, general public perception, and online public opinion will all be taken into consideration while making the decision. According to the statement, the organizations’ CSR initiatives will also be taken into account.
