Once more, BNP demands a 48-hour blockade

The nationwide 48-hour blockade is returning. The BNP has demanded that the road, rail, and waterway blockade campaign be extended to the fourth phase. The roadblock will remain in place from dawn on Sunday, November 12, until dawn on Tuesday, November 14.

During a virtual press conference on Thursday, November 9, the party’s senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, made the announcement about this program.

In response to the arrest of thousands of leaders and employees of different protesting parties, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, house-to-house searches, harassment and torture, and continuous demands for one-point solutions, the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami have once again launched a two-day blockage program.

Before this, on October 29, hartal, October 31, November 1, 2 and 5, 6 and 8, BNP-Jamaiya held a blockade program. Due to earlier strikes and blockades called by both parties, there were fewer picketing processions in the capital Dhaka, but public transport was running on the roads in a limited manner. Residents of the capital use rickshaws, CNG and private cars for personal work. Which is very insignificant compared to normal days. However, BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists have carried out a massive blockade outside Dhaka. Clashes, vandalism and burning of vehicles have occurred in various places including Dhaka during nationwide strikes and blockades. Thousands of leaders and activists of opposition parties including BNP Jamaat have been arrested across the country by law enforcement agencies.
