Inflation rises to 9.93pc in October

The general point-to-point inflation rate saw a little uptick in October, rising from 9.63 percent in September 2023 to 9.93 percent. This increase was mostly caused by a slight upward trend in both food and non-food inflation.

according of August 2023, the general point-to-point inflation rate was 9.92 percent, according per the most recent data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

According to BBS statistics, food inflation rose from 12.37 percent in September 2023 to 12.56 percent in October 2023.

On the other hand, the non-food inflation rate also increased to 8.30 per cent in October up from 7.82 per cent in September.

The general point to point inflation rate both at the urban and rural areas also increased last month.

The point to point inflation in the rural areas in October was 9.99 per cent which was 9.75 per cent in September.

However, in October, the point-to-point inflation in urban areas was 9.72%, compared to 9.24% in September.

November 2022 to October 2023 saw an average annual inflation rate of 9.37 percent.

October saw an increase in the pay rate index, which was 7.69% in October compared to 7.64% in September.
