Padma bridge rail link a signature project of Belt and Road cooperation: China

According to Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, the Padma bridge rail link project is one of China’s trademark Belt and Road cooperation projects.

This was remarked by him in response to a query posed by a China Daily reporter on Friday during the regular news conference.

“Infrastructure connectivity is a priority area of Belt and Road cooperation. The Padma Bridge Rail Link Project in Bangladesh is one of its signature projects,” Wang Wenbin said.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman described the project’s section’s formal debut as a “dream come true moment” for the Bangladeshi people and continued, “The launch of the section is expected to directly benefit 80 million people and increase Bangladesh’s economic growth by 1.5 percentage points.”

The rail link between Dhaka and Jashore via the Padma Bridge was officially opened by the prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday.

Sheikh Rehana, the PM’s younger sister, was there when she opened the train route by pressing a button at the computerized method during a civic event this morning at Munshiganj’s Mawa Railway Station.

“It is the day of fulfilling the dream to cross the Padma River by train,” the prime minister said after inaugurating the rail service.

She said they have a target to link Bangladesh railway with the Trans Asian Railway.
