Water levels in 55 rivers rise, 52 fall

55 river stations that the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) monitors have seen an increase in water levels, while 52 sites have seen a decrease.

According to a bulletin sent by the FFWC here today, two of the 109 monitored river stations have been recorded as steady, and the water level at one river station is flowing below the danger level.

According to the FFWC bulletin, the Ganges and Padma rivers are stable but could decline over the next 48 hours. The Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers are on a downward trend that may continue.

All of the country’s major rivers, with the exception of the Kushiyara, are in a downward trend that could persist over the next 48 hours, according to the bulletin. The alert further stated that the Jamuna river at Porabari point may run dangerously near to that level in the upcoming 24 hours.

At numerous stations in various districts of Bangladesh, significant rainfall was noted over the 24 hours that ended at 9 am today.

Rainfall totals of 71 mm in Dhaka and 44 mm in Rangamati districts were noted.
