Hathurusingha in Dhaka to guide national team for Asia Cup

After spending time with his family in Australia, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha arrived in Dhaka today.

He was meant to lead the team immediately following his arrival for the upcoming Asia Cup, however the captaincy issue delayed Bangladesh’s first practice session.

Instead of beginning practice with his charges, Hathurusingha will meet with BCB President this evening to resolve the ODI Captain issue.

Though the board prefers Shakib Al Hasan to replace Tamim Iqbal as Captain, Hathurusingha’s input is thought to be crucial in this regard.

The board was unable to announce the Asia Cup team since they had yet to decide on a captain. However, every board is required to announce the Asia Cup squad by August 12. As a result, the board would have to make a decision by August 12.

When the squad is announced, Hathurusingha will begin practice.
Until then, the players would continue their individual training sessions as usual.
