In reaction to Vadym Prystaiko’s criticism of the president’s handling of a dispute over British military aid, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky fired him on Friday.
After criticizing Zelensky’s snarky answer to British defense minister Ben Wallace’s recommendations that Ukraine should be more appreciative of the armaments supplied by its friends, Prystaiko was fired.
He described as “unhealthy sarcasm” Mr. Zelensky’s commitment to thank the UK defense minister each morning.
Kyiv stated that Mr. Prystaiko was no longer an ambassador but did not provide an official explanation for the removal.
