‘I feel very fortunate’: PSG keeper Rico after coma

As he continues to heal from a severe brain injury, PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico expressed his thanks on Sunday.

The 29-year-old was brought to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville on May 28 following an incident involving a horse at a nearby fair, and he is currently getting care there.

“I want to thank each and every person who has shown me and sent me their affection in these difficult days,” wrote Rico on Instagram.

“I am still working on my recovery which each day is getting better.

“I feel very fortunate, once more, thank you to everyone and I hope to be able to see you soon.”

On Wednesday, Rico was discharged from intensive care and admitted to the ward where he is continuing his treatment.

After the accident, the Spaniard had been in a coma, but hospital sources informed AFP last week that he was awake and speaking once again.

The goalkeeper twice won the Europa League with his native team Sevilla before making a permanent move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 following a loan stint there.
