Architect Yeafesh Osman, Minister of Science and Technology, stated on Saturday that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) will be opened in September.
During a press conference, the minister stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin may participate virtually in the inaugural program.
“The country now has 100% electricity coverage. But sometimes the demand increases. People suffer when there is a power shortage. We also suffer from this. Bangladesh was in trouble due to the global war situation. But we have largely overcome that problem.”
He also expressed hope that such issues will not reoccur in the future.
Previously, Yeafesh Osman launched the smartphone app Solectricity (Surjo Bidyut) for solar users developed by the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
