Bangladeshi Banks to remain open on 27, 28 Jun in industrial areas

In order to simplify the distribution of paychecks, bonuses, and other benefits to garment employees before Eid-ul-Azha, bank branches will remain open in industrial districts on Tuesday and Wednesday (27 and 28 June) from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The top executives of all the scheduled banks received a circular in this regard on Wednesday from the central bank’s Department of Off-site Supervision.

According to the circular, bank locations in the Dhaka metropolitan area, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, and Narayanganj will be open all day on Friday and Saturday to distribute pay, bonuses, and other benefits to garment employees.

Additionally, it gave instructions to keep bank branches open in Chattogram’s commercial and industrial districts.

The central bank instructed banks to work with local authorities to set up proper security in bank branches.

On June 29, the nation will celebrate the auspicious Eid-ul-Azha.

From June 27 to June 30, the government has extended the Eid-ul-Azha holidays by four days.

The choice was made on Monday during the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over in her office.
