Under-construction bridge collapses in India’s Bihar

According to reports, a bridge between Aguvanighat and Sultanganj in Bhagalpur, in the Indian state of Bihar, that was still under construction, collapsed today.

Two sections of the bridge were seen to collapse one after the other as the scene was captured on camera. There have not yet been any recorded casualties.

According to estimates, the Aguwani Sultanganj Ganga bridge in Bihar’s Khagaria was being built at a cost of more than Rs 1,700 crore.

Additionally, the three-pillared section fell into the competitor and collapsed. In the Bihar district of Khagaria, the region is a part of the Parvatta police station area. Officials from the local government have arrived at the location.

The magnitude of the harm caused by the bridge collapse is reportedly being assessed by officials.

“It is a major negligence. A high-level probe will be carried out and guilty will be punished”, Sultanganj MLA Lalit Kumar Mandal told media.
