Bangladesh Govt to honour 44 people as CIP on Monday

On Monday (May 22), the government will honor 44 individuals as commercially important persons (industry) in several categories for their contributions to the country’s overall economy through the establishment of industries, the creation of jobs, and the increase of national income in 2021.

As the chief guest, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque will formally hand over the honor award at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital, while Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, and FBCCI president Md Jashim Uddin will remain present as special guests.

The event will be presided over by Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana.

According to a press statement issued today, six businesspeople were chosen as ex-officio members, 25 as large industries, 10 as medium industries, two as small industries, and one as micro industries.

Every nominated CIP will receive a CIP card and will be entitled to a variety of benefits, including priority seat reservations on government transportation in air, road, rail, and waterways, invitations to national events, and special treatment in government hospitals for their spouse and children.

CIPs will be able to use the cards as credentials to access the airport’s VIP lounge-2.

The CIPs nominated as ex-officio are Sheikh Fazle Fahim, former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Kamran Tanvirur Rahman, former president of Bangladesh Employers Federation, Mohammad Ali Khokon, president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, Rupali Haque Chowdhury, president of Foreign Investors Chambers of Commerce and Industry, AKM Salim Osman, president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Chambers of Industries.

Owner of Masco Dairy Enterprise MA Sabur has been selected for CIP under the micro industry category.
