Elon Musk tells Tesla staff he must approve all hiring

According to a copy of the email obtained by Reuters, Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk has stated that the company can make no new hires unless he personally approves them, even contractors.

According to the email, Musk instructed executives to send him a weekly list of recruiting requests, while also advising them to “think carefully” before submitting such requests.

“No one can join Tesla, even as a contractor, until you receive my email approval”, Musk said in the email on Monday.

Last month, the business reported its lowest quarterly gross margin in two years, falling short of market expectations, as it aggressively reduced prices in regions such as the United States and China to drive demand and fend off mounting competition.

Tesla did not react quickly to Reuters’ request for comment.

Last week, Musk hired former NBCUniversal advertising head Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO. On Friday, he stated that employing Yaccarino will allow him to devote more time to running Tesla.

The billionaire is scheduled to speak to Tesla shareholders during the automaker’s annual meeting on Tuesday at its headquarters in Austin, Texas.
