Md Shahabuddin Chuppu elected as the President of Bangladesh

Md Shahabuddin, the candidate of the Awami League (AL), was named president of Bangladesh in a notification released by the Election Commission (EC) on Monday. The country’s 22nd president was elected unopposed.

The notification, which was signed by EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, stated that Md Shahabuddin has been elected as the President of Bangladesh in accordance with the Presidential Election Act (Act No. 27 of 1991) and the announcement of the election commissioner.

After carefully examining the nomination document submitted on Sunday, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal made the announcement earlier this afternoon at the Election Commission Office.

“As per the election schedule, two nomination papers were submitted for Shahabuddin on Sunday and one of those was accepted as valid after scrutiny. We will send it today for gazette notification,” he told journalists at the EC office.

Sahabuddin has worked in the judicial service for a long time. He was a member of Bangladesh Awami League’s advisory board. He was born in 1949 in Pabna.
