Elvis Presley’s widow disputes late daughter’s will

According to court records, Priscilla Presley, the late Elvis Presley’s wife, has contested an alteration to their late daughter’s will that would have eliminated her as a trustee.

At the age of 54, Lisa Marie Presley passed away abruptly from cardiac arrest in Los Angeles earlier this month.

In 2010, Lisa Marie designated her mother Priscilla and her former business manager Barry Siegel as co-trustees of her estate, both while she was alive and in the event of her demise, according to court records.

However, Lisa Marie seems to have changed that arrangement in 2016 to exclude them and specify that Riley and Benjamin Keough, her elder children, should take over the trust in the case of her passing.

In a document sent by her attorney last week, Priscilla Presley claimed that she only “found” the modifications after her daughter passed away on January 12.

The “purported amendment” should be declared invalid because it was never delivered to Priscilla Presley during her daughter’s life, it misspells Priscilla’s name, and Lisa Marie’s signature “appears inconsistent” with her usual signature, alleges the filing seen by AFP.

The suit, which was submitted last Thursday, asks the Los Angeles superior court to declare the alteration illegal and order the administration of the original will.

A future legal dispute over Lisa Marie’s inheritance would have substantial financial ramifications.

Elvis has had one child, Lisa Marie. She used to be in charge of Elvis Presley Enterprises until in 2005 she sold the majority of her stock to a private equity firm.

She still had control over the estate Graceland, which belonged to her father and was where he was discovered unconscious in August 1977.

Benjamin Keough, her son, committed suicide in 2020.

Riley Keough, her oldest child, is an actress who has been in “Mad Max: Fury Road” and the most recent indie blockbuster “Zola.” Riley is 33 years old.

Harper and Finley, Lisa Marie’s adolescent twin daughters, also survived her.

They stand to co-inherit Graceland with Riley, a representative for the Tennessee mansion and fan pilgrimage destination told People magazine.

Priscilla Presley, who divorced Elvis in 1973 after six years of marriage, also had an acting career, including roles in the “Naked Gun” films, and television series “Dallas.”

On Tuesday, NBC News cited an email from an “unnamed friend” of Lisa Marie calling the court challenge a “money grab” and alleging that Priscilla “had no relationship” with her daughter at the time of her death.

A request for comment from AFP was not immediately answered by Priscilla Presley’s agents.
