Biden orders US flags lowered for California shooting victims

In commemoration of the victims of the deadly shooting in Monterey Park, California, President Joe Biden ordered all US flags at government facilities to fly at half-staff on Sunday.

As a sign of respect for the victims of the terrible acts of violence committed on January 21, 2023, in Monterey Park, California, Biden ordered that flags be lowered until dusk on January 26.

Ten people were murdered and at least 10 more injured in a mass shooting on Saturday in a city in southern California with a significant Asian population, according to the authorities.

Witnesses claim the shooter used a semiautomatic pistol to fire randomly at the dance hall in Monterey Park as the neighborhood celebrated the Lunar New Year.

The shooter who is thought to have killed 10 people in California during Lunar New Year celebrations later shot himself in the head as police closed in to take him into custody, the local sheriff said on Sunday.
