Bangladeshi Singer Akbar passes away

Akbar, a singer, passed away on Sunday at the BIRDEM General Hospital in the city.

Prothom Alo received a confirmation from his wife Kaniz Fatema.

For two years, singer Akbar had been afflicted with a number of medical issues, including jaundice and kidney diseases.

His right leg had been amputated in October, and he had been bedridden since January of this year.

As his kidney and liver complications worsened, he was supposed to be taken to India for treatment.

He also received treatment at home and abroad. The prime minster also donated Tk 2 million for the treatment of this singer.

Akbar Ali Gazi rose to fame after singing “Ekdin Pakhi Ure Jabe” of Kishore Kumar at TV programme ‘Ittady’. He gained popularity with his song “Tomar Haat Pakhar Batase”.
