Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun to take charge as IGP on September 30

The government has appointed the incumbent Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Besides, Additional IGP of the police headquarters M Khurshid Hossain has been made the DG of RAB.

A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division on Thursday.

The appointment of Abdullah Al Mamun will be effective from September 30, the same day, current IGP Benazir Ahmed will go on retirement.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was appointed RAB DG through a gazette published on April 8 in 2022.
