Following Chinese ballistic missile launches in the vicinity, the White House said on Thursday that a group of US military ships, including the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, will stay in the Taiwan zone.
Pentagon orders Reagan carrier group to “stay on station in the approximate region to monitor the situation,” according to White House spokesperson John Kirby.
As we have done for years, supporting Taiwan and protecting a free and open Indo-Pacific, we will continue to operate in the Western Pacific’s seas and skies in accordance with international law, Kirby said.
