The air in Dhaka is still rated as “moderate”

Due to pre-monsoon showers in many parts of the nation, Dhaka’s air quality has recently seen a substantial improvement, according to UNB.

The city was 42nd on the list of the world’s most polluted cities at 9.30 am on Wednesday, with an air quality index (AQI) score of 59. The AQI for Dhaka was labeled as “moderate.”

The top three cities on the list were Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, and Wuhan in China, with AQI scores of 408, 294 and 170, respectively.

In addition, with an identical AQI score of 162, Santiago, Chile, and New Delhi, India, held the fourth and fifth positions on the list.

An AQI of 101 to 200 is regarded as “unhealthy,”, especially for vulnerable populations.

Similar to this, an AQI rating between 201 and 300 is rated “bad,” while one between 301 and 400 is “dangerous,” offering significant health hazards to locals.

Governmental organizations utilize the AQI, an indicator for monitoring daily air quality, to let the public know how clean or polluted the air in a particular city is and what potential health impacts they should be aware of.
