Eminem, an American rapper and composer, has been named the new King of Gold and Platinum Singles by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The rapper has now become the most rewarded performer for singles in the 64-year history of the Gold and Platinum program, according to Deadline. According to the site, the Oscar winner’s career total now stands at 227.5 million, including 166 million single certificates and 61.5 million album certifications, thanks to 73.5 million fresh certifications.
He’s also one of only seven musicians to have three or more Diamond-certified albums in the United States, indicating sales of at least 10 million units.
Eminem’s second album, ‘The Real Slim Shady,’ was released in 1999 and featured the famous single ‘My Name Is,’ before his follow-up, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP,’ was released in 2000.
He most recently performed in the historic Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.
