France’s Clement Noel wins men’s Olympic slalom

When Clement Noel won the men’s slalom on Wednesday, he became France’s first alpine skiing gold medalist in the Beijing Olympics.

Noel, who was sixth fastest after the first run, ran the fastest second run, clocking a total time of 1min 44.09sec.

Austrian Johannes Strolz, who had already won gold in the alpine combined at these Games, came in second with a time of 0.61 seconds, while Norwegian Sebastian Foss-Solevaag got bronze with a time of 0.70 seconds.
