India will celebrate a two-day national mourning period in honour of iconic vocalist Lata Mangeshkar, who died this morning at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.

The national flag will be flown at half-staff for two days in honour of the great singer, the government declared today.

Her funeral, however, will take place today at 6.30 p.m. with full state honours.

Prior to that, her body would be stored in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park so that the people may pay their final respects to the iconic singer, according to media sources.

Lata Mangeshkar, often known as the Nightingale of India because of her beautiful voice, died of multiple organ failure at the age of 92 this morning at 8.12 a.m.
