No Messi, no problem as Barcelona defeat Juventus

Barcelona won the pre-season Gamper Trophy 3-0 over Juventus on Sunday, kicking off their season without Lionel Messi.

In a sad press conference earlier Sunday, Messi said his goodbyes to the club he had served for 20 years.

Memphis Depay scored the first goal for Barcelona after just three minutes, and Martin Braithwaite added a second goal from a corner just before the hour mark.

Riqui Puig, a young prospect, added a third goal in stoppage time with a beautiful left-footed strike.
Real Madrid and AC Milan drew 0-0 in the other high-profile friendly on Sunday.

The La Liga season in Spain begins on Friday, while the Serie A season in Italy begins on August 22.
