Bangladesh beat Australia by 10 runs and grabbed the series winning

The Australians were reduced to 117/4 in their 20 overs, chasing a modest 128 for win, as the Tigers won the series with two games remaining.

Bangladesh beat Australia by 10 runs at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday to grab a 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

The Australians were held to 117/4 in their 20 overs as the Tigers won the series with two games to go, chasing a modest 128 for the win.

Mitchell Marsh top-scored with a 47-ball 51, and he and Ben McDermott (35) had a crucial 63-run stand for the second wicket, but the visitors lost their way from there and fell short by 10 runs. Shariful Islam, a left-arm seamer, took two wickets.

Earlier, Australia’s Nathan Ellis took a hat-trick on debut, becoming the first batsman to do so in T20Is, as Bangladesh were limited to 127/9 in 20 overs.

Ellis first removed Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah, who top-scored with 52 off 53 balls, before completing the hat-trick by catching Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan in the deep off consecutive deliveries.

Ellis was ably assisted by Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa, who both took two wickets. After winning the toss, Mahmudullah chose to bat first. The toss has been delayed by an hour and a half owing to rain, but there will be a full complement of 20 overs plus a 10-minute innings break.

With a 2-0 advantage, the Tigers will seek to seal up the series with two games to spare on Friday, while the Aussies will be eager for a win to keep their series alive.

Bangladesh remained unaltered from the second T20I, while Australia made three changes, replacing Josh Philippe, Mitchell Starc, and Andrew Tye with McDermott, Ellis, and Dan Christian.
