Turkey releases stamp marking Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

The Turkish Postal Department has issued a special postage stamp featuring the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to commemorate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.

According to a foreign ministry press release issued here today, the stamp was unveiled at a meeting between the Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey Mosud Mannan and the Director-General of the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Cultural Wing Deniz Chakar on Tuesday afternoon.

Chakar said at the meeting that the release of a stamp with a photograph in honour of Bangabandhu would strengthen ties between Dhaka and Ankara.

Bangabandhu, the Father of the Nation, is a concrete emblem of democracy, peace, and secularism both in Bangladesh and internationally, according to the Bangladesh envoy.

The envoy congratulated Turkey’s foreign ministry and postal service for publishing a postage stamp commemorating Bangladesh’s founding father’s 100th birthday.
