Noted Bangladeshi poet and lyricist Fazal-e-Khuda, renowned for the song “Salam Salam Hajar Salam” has died of Coronavirus.
He died at 4 a.m. on Sunday at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, where he received treatment. Kabir Bakul, a lyricist, confirmed the death to Media. Earlier on Thursday, Fazal was taken to the hospital as his physical condition deteriorated.
His son Wasif-e-Khuda, his wife Mahmuda Sultana, and his daughter in low were all found to be infected with the virus as well. Mahmuda is the other one who is being treated in the hospital as well.
Fazal’s patriotic, contemporary, folk, and Islamic songs are well-known. Some of his memorable songs are “Je Deshete Shapla Shaluk Jhiler Jole Bhashe”, “Bhalobashar Mullo Koto, “Kolshi Kaandhe Ghaate Jai Kon Rooposhi” and Ami Kichu Jani Na”, among others.
In 1963, he was recognized on the radio as a lyricist. A year later, he was recognized as a lyricist on television. He began his writing career as a poet. He has worked as Dhaka Betar’s regional director.
