At Cannes, ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ earns a standing ovation.

“Rehana Maryam Noor” earned a standing ovation from the audience today at the Cannes Film Festival. The video was aired at 11: 15 am (3:15 pm Bangladeshi time) today.

The film was the first Bangladeshi endeavor to be officiously picked for Cannes in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section.

Singaporean producer Jeremy Chua accompanied director Abdullah Mohammad Saad, lead Azmeri Haque Badhan, and the rest of the team during the screening.

“I am incredibly grateful and delighted with the reception,” said Badhan, in her Facebook live video following the showing. The actor was spotted in tears of delight following the occasion. “I give all thanks to Saad, and the great team that worked so hard to get it this far.”

Earlier, a considerable wait was spotted en route to the cinema that exhibited the film, showing the hype that “Rehana Maryam Noor” had already created in the festival. All eyes will now be riveted on July 16, when the award-giving ceremony of the Un Certain Regard division will be held.
