Former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has died

Former United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has died. He died at his home in New Mexico on Tuesday. He was 88 years old.

He was a minister in the George W. Bush administration and was one of the leaders in the US war on terror. He was one of the masterminds of the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan and the 2003 invasion of Iraq after the 9/11 attacks. Former President George W. Bush mourned his death.

Rumsfeld was born in 1932 in Chicago. He has held various government posts since 1980. In 1975, he became the youngest Minister of Defense during the Gerald Ford administration.

He later served as the oldest member of the Pentagon from 2001 to 2006. He was forced to resign in 2006 due to criticism and administrative conflicts.
