Justin Trudeau won the no-confidence vote

The minority government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has won a no-confidence vote in parliament on Wednesday over a proposed budget. In doing so, he avoided a possible early election this summer. News from AFP.

The country’s House of Commons reportedly received 211 votes in favour of the budget and 121 against. The budget was proposed last April. Under the budget, a mega plan to spend 101.4 billion Canadian dollars (79 billion euros) over more than three years was taken up.

The Conservative opposition voted against Trudeau. He survived the journey thanks to the support of the other three small blocks of the room.

The budget for 2021-2022, which began last April, must now be approved by the Senate. The budget is expected to be formalized on Friday ahead of the summer holidays.
