Rocket attacks on two airports in Myanmar

Rocket attach has hit two airports in Myanmar. The attack on Thursday (April 29th) did not cause any casualties but caused minor damage. However, it was not possible to identify the attackers. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The army confirmed the attack at a press conference.

Three months ago, the junta seized power in Myanmar by overthrowing the democratically elected government.

Myanmar’s military has been fighting armed rebel groups in isolated areas for decades. However, attacks on such large military installations in the central regions are quite rare.

The first four rockets hit an airport near the central city of Magway. Besides, three rockets landed on another road. A building was slightly damaged but no one was injured. Security has been beefed up on roads outside the base since the blast.

Five rockets later exploded at a major airport in the country at Maiktila. The military says it is trying to arrest the attackers.

There was a journalist named Than Win Hlaing, next to the Maiktila airport. He posted a video showing a rocket going overhead and exploding at the base.
