Remembering Irrfan Khan on the Oscar stage

Irfan was the first to gain such respect and popularity in the national and international arena by escaping from the mainstream of Bollywood. So not only Indian films, he has caught the attention of the world by working in multiple Hollywood films.

Last year, actor Irrfan Khan left the film world mourning. The late actor Irrfan Khan was remembered in the ‘In Memory’ section of the Oscars on Monday. Not only Irrfan Khan, Vanu Athaiya, India’s first Oscar winner, was also on the list.

The 93rd Oscar, the biggest film event in the world this year, started at 6 am Bangladesh time on Monday and lasted till 9 am. The Golden Globe, the Oscars were also held on a small scale this time. World-renowned late artists are honored in the ‘In Memory’ section of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences. This time two Indians were named in that category. The late actors Irfan Khan and Vanu Athaiya were remembered.

Incidentally, Vanu won the Academy Awards in 1973 for her costume design for the film ‘Gandhi’ directed by Richard Attenborough. Born in Kolapur, India in 1929, Vanu Athaiyar started her career as a costume designer in the Bollywood industry in 1958 with Guru Dutt’s famous film ‘CID’.

On the other hand, Irrfan Khan was the name of a sigh of relief in the Bollywood world and the subcontinent last year. He has been seen in films like ‘Jurassic World’, ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Amazing Spider-Man’, ‘Inferno’, ‘A Mighty Heart’. Irfan was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, with incredible talent, hard work and skillful acting skills.

In the Memorial section, eminent personalities including American star Chadwick Bozman and British actor Shawn Connery are remembered. American actress Angela Bassett came on stage to pay her respects to the deceased.
